Bywell House care home is a small residential care home which specialises in caring for up to 20 older guests who have Alzheimer's or senile dementia. It is a large detached house centrally located in the 'poets' area of the town close to shopping and other amenities. Communal areas comprise a living room, dining room and a separate ‘quiet’ room. The residence has a Co-ordinator for activities that range from bingo and singing to those tailored to an individual guest. Group and individual outings are also available. Mature gardens host regular barbeques and gatherings during summer months.
